Dr. Fernando is ๐๐ผ-๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฝ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐๐๐๐ . A disaster medicine and infectious diseases specialist, he has extensive experience in ๐ต๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ. His work has taken him to crisis settings in Ukraine, Darfur, Bangladesh, Türkiye, Jamaica and the United States, where he has contributed directly to field operations and the management of complex emergencies.
As a ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ผ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐/๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น, Dr. Fernando also contributes to global health initiatives and to advancing preparedness for emergencies involving infectious threats and other high-impact hazards.
