CongrEMs 2026, held in Târgu Mureș, Romania, offered an important platform for dialogue, training, and international cooperation in emergency and disaster medicine...
Târgu Mureș, Romania, 3-6 June 2026
CEMEC was pleased to contribute to this 3rd National Congress of Emergency and Disaster Medicine with International Participation, an event that combined scientific sessions, expert lectures, hands-on workshops, medical simulation, mass casualty incident training, XVR exercises, and multidisciplinary exchange.Within the session “Rescue in Difficult and Austere Environments,” I contributed as speaker with the presentation “First Responders Protection in Complex Environments”
The speech addressed a key priority for modern emergency and disaster response: protecting Civil Defence forces, Emergency Medical Teams, and first responders operating in high-risk, unstable, and hybrid-threat environments, where safety, resilience, coordination, and operational continuity are essential.
Sincere recognition goes to Dr. Raed Arafat, Secretary of State and Head of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs; to Assoc. Prof. Cristian Boeriu, Head of the Clinical Emergency Department SMURD Târgu Mureș; and to Daniel-Dragoș Stanca, President of the Emergency Medicine Student Organization Târgu Mureș and President of the CongrEMs 2026 Organizing Committee.
Events such as CongrEMs are essential because they connect academic knowledge, operational experience, simulation-based learning, and the next generation of emergency professionals.
