"Find Your Way " – When Safety Becomes a Life Lesson
San Marino April-May 2025
The past few months marked the successful wrap-up of the “Find Your Way” initiative in San Marino, a powerful educational journey promoted by the European Centre for Disaster Medicine, CEMEC, together with the Civil Police and the Gendarmerie.Aimed at first-year high school students, this initiative wasn’t just about traffic rules. It was about raising awareness, starting real conversations, and helping young people become active promoters of safer behaviors on the road.
The sessions with law enforcement were eye-opening. Students asked thoughtful questions and reflected on how even small actions can have serious consequences. The message was clear: don’t take road safety for granted.
The CEMEC medical team brought the reality of road trauma into the classroom. Their explanations were clear, honest, and impactful. One moment stood out: after a deep and detailed discussion on the effects of drug use, the room went completely silent. When the doctor asked, “Any questions?” – no one spoke. Not out of disinterest, but because the message had truly hit home. As one student later said: “We understood – it’s something really serious. You can’t just brush it off.”
We were moved by the engagement and maturity of the students. Their curiosity, their willingness to listen, and their emotional reactions showed just how powerful education can be when it’s done with heart.
A huge thank you to all the institutions involved, and especially to the students, who reminded us that change begins with awareness, and that every choice we make on the road matters.
