From the laboratory to the ICU, from PPE protocols to incident command: biological preparedness, built across the full response spectrum
Abu Dhabi, May 16,2026
CEMEC is pleased to have co-organized the Course on Awareness, Preparedness, and Emergency Response Simulation for Hantavirus Incidents, a structured intensive program bringing together physicians, nurses, ICU teams, infection control specialists, field responders, and public health professionals, combining evidence-based knowledge with hands-on simulation in a single, integrated learning experience. The program covered the full clinical and operational spectrum: Hantavirus biology and epidemiology, early recognition and diagnostic workup, infection prevention and PPE protocols, critical care and respiratory failure management, ICS application to biological incidents, and full multidisciplinary outbreak simulation exercises.
What this course represents goes beyond a single training event. It reflects a growing and meaningful collaboration between disaster medicine expertise and operational capacity, aligned around a common goal: building resilient, self-sufficient health security systems capable of detecting and responding to biological threats at every level.
Grateful to the Readiness initiative, its leadership and team, for the vision, commitment, professionalism, and operational energy that made this course possible. This is exactly the kind of national commitment that turns preparedness from a concept into a living system.
