Health as a pillar of national security
Rome - Navy Petty Officers' Club, April 16, 2026
CEMEC was recently actively engaged as a speaker at the Round Table "Health as a Security Infrastructure", held at the Italian Navy Officers' Club in Rome.A distinguished gathering of military officials, intelligence experts, psychologists and cybersecurity specialists came together around one shared question: how do we defend our societies when threats no longer come only from physical borders, but from pandemics, algorithms and cognitive vulnerabilities?
We brought a clear message to the table: in today's interconnected threat landscape, health has become a core component of security strategy. Sectoral approaches are no longer enough. Healthcare, security and governance must work together.
The forum explored some of the most pressing challenges of our time, from biological and cognitive threats, to AI risks in digital health, psychological operations and the emerging framework of intelligence for national resilience.
A strong reminder that preparedness is about resources, awareness, collaboration and integrated thinking.
Thank you to Admiral Inspector Vincenzo Aglieri, Head of the Italian Navy Medical Corps, for his institutional support, to Rear Admiral Fabio Germano and Dr. Liuva Capezzani for organising this outstanding event, and to all speakers for their valuable contributions.
