We recently had the privilege of being hosted at the Milan Provincial Fire and Rescue Command for a productive exchange on the specialised assets dedicated to managing CBRN incidents: the vehicles, equipment, operational capabilities, and the procedures activated in the event of a major emergency.Of particular interest were the capabilities developed under the European rescEU CBRN-DSIM-IT project, the latest-generation systems, vehicles, and technologies for the detection, monitoring, sampling, and management of CBRN incidents. A concrete example of Italy's contribution to strengthening Europe's civil protection and emergency response capacity.
My sincere thanks to the Commander, Eng. Mauro Caciolai, for the warm welcome, and to the Deputy Commander, Eng. Edoardo Cavalieri d'Oro, and his staff, who shared their experience and expertise with remarkable professionalism and openness throughout the day.
What stays with us is not only the technical excellence of the equipment, but the operational culture behind it, the discipline, the readiness, and the quiet competence that define the Italian fire and rescue service.
Meetings like this reinforce a core conviction: effective CBRNe response depends on continuous dialogue between operational responders, the medical and scientific community, and the institutions that connect them. Strengthening those bridges is how preparedness becomes resilience.
