Proud to Take Part in the 2025 Global Conference on Biological Threat Reduction
28-30 october 2025
We were officially invited by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) to participate in the 2025 Global Conference on Biological Threat Reduction, recently held in Geneva. This high-level event marking the 50th anniversary of the Biological Weapons Convention and the 100th anniversary of the Geneva Protocol, brought together an extraordinary gathering of international institutions, experts, and stakeholders, all united by a shared mission: strengthening global health security in the face of biological threats.
The conference offered a three-day journey through some of the most pressing issues of our time:
-One Health & Security: Exploring how cross-sector collaboration can effectively reduce biological risks in an interconnected world.
-Evolving Biological Threats: From geopolitical shifts to climate-driven disease dynamics, with case studies from Africa and Southeast Asia.
-Deliberate Biological Events: Agro-crime, agro-terrorism, and bio-terrorism, with real-world lessons from global partners.
-Emerging Technologies: Opportunities and risks at the interface of biotechnology, diagnostics, surveillance, and innovation.
-Sustainable Laboratories: Forward-looking reflections on how to ensure safe, resilient, and operational laboratory systems worldwide.
-Global Frameworks & Preparedness: Strengthening the BWC, enhancing multi-agency coordination, and promoting sustainable investment strategies.
Our participation represented a significant recognition of our longstanding commitment to health security, disaster preparedness, and integrated cooperation.
It was also a valuable opportunity to contribute, learn, and build new bridges at a time when biological risks, whether accidental, natural, or deliberate, are increasingly reshaping global priorities.
