Radiological & Nuclear Incident Response - Case Studies & Best Practices
Recently, together with the INMM Africa Chapter, the European Centre for Disaster Medicine, we co-organized a session that brought together people from different countries, different backgrounds, but with the same passion for learning and improving how we respond to radiological and nuclear incidents.
What made it special wasn’t only the technical content (which was excellent), but the atmosphere: open, curious, collaborative.
I had the pleasure of speaking alongside colleagues I reply admire:
Prof. Mostafa Kofi, who set the tone with an inspiring opening
Prof. Manny Mathuthu, sharing his deep expertise in Nuclear Forensics
Eng. Adeline Yuego, bringing fresh insights from the WINS Academy Programs
The biggest takeaway for me?
That when people from different parts of the world come together with honesty and enthusiasm, knowledge becomes something alive, shared, questioned, improved.
We exchanged real experiences, lessons learned, and perspectives that remind us why our work in safety and preparedness matters.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, asked questions, and contributed to the discussion.
And a very warm thank you to the INMM Africa Chapter for such a smooth and positive collaboration.
Events like this motivate me even more to keep building bridges, between institutions, fields, and people.
Looking forward to the next steps we will take together.
