"Safeguarding Disaster Medicine Operators in Non-Permissive Environments"TEuropean Centre for Disaster Medicine Presents Exclusive Free Online Course: "Safeguarding Disaster Medicine Operators in Non-Permissive Environments"
The European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC) proudly announces the launch of an online course aimed at enhancing the safety and efficacy of medical and forensic operators working in hazardous situations. Titled "Safeguarding Disaster Medicine Operators in Non-Permissive Environments," this Course addresses the persistent threat posed, even after conflicts conclude, by Explosive Remnants of War (ERW), including landmines, unexploded bombs, shells, and cluster munitions.
The impact of ERW extends beyond casualties, hindering access to essential services and impeding reconciliation efforts. Moreover, ERW complicates the vital tasks of medical and forensic operators, obstructing immediate assistance to disaster victims and safe handling of deceased individuals. To address these challenges, the course emphasizes comprehensive understanding and adherence to safety protocols, empowering professionals to mitigate risks effectively.
Scheduled for April 17, 2024, from 13:00 to 18:00 (Central European Time), the course covers crucial topics such as threat analysis, safety procedures regarding landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), emergency response protocols, and handling deceased individuals in hazardous areas. Distinguished speakers including Prof. Roberto Mugavero, President of CEMEC, and Mr. Mohammed Alkuhali, former Coordinator for the Weapon Contamination Department at the International Committee of the Red Cross, will share their insights.
Designed for doctors, nurses, paramedics, forensic specialists, emergency response personnel, and humanitarian aid professionals, the course aims to equip participants with the basic knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective operations in challenging environments.
Attendees will benefit from expert guidance and practical tips, all offered free of charge. Upon completion, participants will receive an attendance certificate from the promoting organizations.
