Successful Conclusion of “One Health in Emergencies” Summer School 2024

We are excited to announce the successful conclusion of the Summer School 2024, themed “One Health in Emergencies,” which took place in Palinuro, Italy. This event brought together a diverse group of health and emergency management professionals to discuss and address the pressing issues of emergency management within the One Health framework.
The activities offered an ideal setting for in-depth discussions and networking. Participants earned 25 formative credits, contributing to their professional development and enhancing their expertise. The program covered a wide range of topics, including emergency management and risk mitigation, with a focus on sustainable development and international solidarity.
The European Centre for Disaster Medicine (CEMEC) was one of the key organizers of the event, alongside CeRVEnE - Regional Reference Center for Emergency Prevention and Management, Italy, PAM - Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, CRENCOR - National Reference Center for the Analysis and Study of Correlation Between Animal Environment and Humans, Italy, Order of Veterinarians of Salerno, Italy, and Mediterranean Campus, Italy.
CEMEC made a significant contribution by presenting "Risk and Emergency Management: Tackling New Global Challenges," which highlighted innovative approaches to addressing global challenges. Other notable sessions were dedicated to building knowledge and competencies necessary for effective emergency response, emphasizing resilience and integrated health management.
Key speakers included, among others, representatives from the Italian Department of Civil Protection and the Italian Ministry of Health.
The event fostered enhanced collaboration between various health and emergency management bodies. Participants gained innovative insights into emergency management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development. The successful collaboration and exchange of knowledge have significantly advanced our collective understanding and capabilities in managing health emergencies.
