How do we protect those who protect us - when the frontlines are blurred, and danger wears many faces?
San Marino 23 May 2025
LINK TO EVENTThat’s the question we tackled head-on at the EUROMED PROTECT-NET Side Event, where the European Centre for Disaster Medicine was proud to serve as organizer.
This global gathering drew over 350 participants from across the world, a clear signal that the protection of first responders and healthcare staff is a shared international priority.
Together with leading voices from WHO, ICRC, MSF, civil protection services, and academia, we explored the harsh realities faced by emergency personnel in conflict and disaster zones. From field experiences to institutional best practices, discussions focused on turning insight into action—finding concrete ways to safeguard those who risk everything to help others in the most volatile and high-risk environments.
We were honored to welcome outstanding speakers such as Olivier Hagon Christopher Stokes, Loris De Filippi, Yves Giebens, Maksym Kustov, Hamdija Hadziavic, Rafael Castro-Delgado, Paolo Vaccari and Zubair Al Azad, each of whom brought a unique, deeply experienced perspective.
A special thanks to our excellent moderators, Lamia Bezer and Emanuele Bruni, who guided the conversation with expertise and clarity.
This webinar was a meaningful moment of shared responsibility, focused collaboration, and practical solutions—perfectly reflecting CEMEC’s belief that awareness must lead to change. Events like this show what’s truly possible when expertise and commitment come together.
